The two other attractions are Casey's General Store and Fat Randies. Casey's is Van Meter's little gas station. Fat Randies is a bar and grill, and people love the food there. So if you ever find yourself in Van Meter, Iowa feel free to stop in.
The newest addition to Van Meter would be the Veterans Cemetery. This is a very nice area and they offer free burial to they men and women that have served and their spouses. They separated the cemetary into different sections of the military and national guard etc.
The mayor of Van Meter is Fred Scaleta. He helps our town out by volunteering with different sports and functions. He keeps our town together and is a really nice guy. He has been mayor for three years, and hopefully at least three more.
